Understanding Peripartum Cardiomyopathy: Heart Health in Pregnancy


Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) affects approximately 1:1000 live births worldwide, is a significant cause of morbidity, and is in many places the leading cause of maternal peripartum mortality. The cause of PPCM remains unknown and is remarkably understudied. 
Researchers at 6 centers will collect blood samples from women who have been diagnosed with PPCM in a prior pregnancy to study biomarker expression and function.
